Short Documentary / 2nd Year Assignment / Winner - EDA
Tommy, My Neighbour is a short observational documentary about Tommy, an elderly Dublin man who overcame forty years of alcoholism. Now sober, he lives in a cluttered home with three quirky birds, including Tyson, a parrot that mimics his voice. With warmth and honesty, Tommy shares his memories, his path to sobriety, and the humour and resilience of everyday life. The 2025 film was shortlisted for the Young Director Award at Cannes and won Ireland’s Emerging Director Award, and was officially selected for IndieCork (BAFTA-qualifying) and Kerry Film Festival.
