Short Documentary / 2nd Year Assignment
Tommy, My Neighbour is a short observational documentary about Tommy, an elderly Dubliner who overcame forty years of alcoholism. Now sober, he lives in a cluttered home with three quirky birds, including Tyson, a parrot that mimics his voice. With warmth and honesty, Tommy shares his memories, his path to sobriety, and the humour and resilience of everyday life.
The film won Ireland’s Emerging Director Award and was shortlisted for the Young Director Award in Cannes and at the Venice TV Award.
